Where should I put the phone?
About 3 m out to your stick side, a little behind you (left if you shoot left, right if you shoot right), so it sees your body from the side, the stick, the puck and the net, standing upright. Before you record, the app checks the picture and shows a green “Perfect position” — or tells you what to move. Filming face-on (like a golf swing) works too, but then the app can't see the pucks go in.
My shots aren't counted
- Check that the microphone is on: Settings → HockeyForm → Microphone.
- Try another mic sensitivity on the camera screen: High for a quiet shot or a far-off phone, Low in a noisy place.
- Keep the phone within a few metres of where you shoot.
The camera doesn't start
Check that the camera is on for HockeyForm: Settings → HockeyForm → Camera.
It says “Scan needs internet”
The first time, the app needs the internet to get the analysis ready. Connect once and it works from then on.
Where are my films?
On your phone, under History — tap a session to watch it again. A film is deleted 7 days after it was recorded unless you tap its star, right after the session or in History; the session's shots and points stay either way.
How exact is the analysis?
The app looks at your movement on every shot; its “pro” levels are guidance, not measurements of a particular player. A still phone in the right place gives the most reliable numbers.
